Typewritten draft of a biographical sketch written for the Utah State Historical Society of a Mormon pioneer, missionary, author-journalist and assistant Latter-day Saint Church historian. It describes (mainly through excerpts from his autobiography) his activities in those capacities, as well as his emigration from Denmark to Utah and family data. Also included are two articles by Newell Knight and an article from the Salt Lake City Historian's Office pertaining to "Washington Square."

Contains 17 volumes of journals kept by Sorenson from 1879 to 1908. Includes information about his service in the Australasian Mission in New Zealand and Australia from 1879 to 1881, and in the Scandanavian Mission in Denmark and Sweden in 1887-1889.

Also includes a handwritten transcription of book on the teachings of Jesus Christ that came from Nauvoo, Illinois in the 1840s, and a handwritten report from Sorenson's mission to Scandinavia in the 1880s.

Contains diaries belonging to the Kempe and DeWitt families. Includes a diary of Christopher Jensen Kempe about his missions, time in the Detroit penitentiary, and marriages. Also contains diaries of Abel Alexander DeWitt, Jr. about his mission from 1901-1903. Finally, contains an autograph book and diary of Ruth Leila Kempe DeWitt as well as a short biographical history of her descendendants and ancestors. Dated approximately 1860-1996.

Includes copies of the Improvement Era from 1955-1956, concert programs and order of services in Danish, maps, and several books including on the Articles of Faith, books of scripture, and other pamphlets. Also includes some letters from people while he was on his mission, with pictures included.

Scope and Contents Contains two mission diaries that cover the mission of Martin Wilford Mangelson to Norway and Denmark. These diaries recount the experiences that he had with the people, the culture, the country, and the LDS church while he was there. The collection also contains two religious books: A hymnal in Danish, and The New Testament in Norwegian.
