This is a collection of short essays. They deal with the doctrines of the Catholic Church roughly from the years 1500 to 1700. Topics include the doctrine of baptism, the nature of the Apocryphal books, explanations of certain scriptures from the Bible, the celibacy of priests, papal infallibility, the existence and nature of God, the Trinity, the Holy Spirit, and the development of the Protestant Churches.

Handwritten letter on velum addressed to Philip II of Spain. The item concerns the religious problems in Europe at the time and expresses Ferdinand's opinion that things will correct themselves over time.

The letters are by Francis, Pierre Francois Faius (Vicar-general of the Geneva diocese), Charles Auguste de Sales (Francis' nephew and successor as Bishop of Geneva), and Antoine Favre (a friend of Francis). Also included is a typewritten biography of Francis.
