The materials relate to the politics, internal matters, theological controversies, and censorship in the Catholic Church. The items date mainly from the last quarter of the sixteenth to the first quarter of the seventeenth centuries. Also included are references to important earlier events such as the Council of Trent. Many of the items relate to restricting certian works from being read.
