E. Jay Bell letters
Five letters addressed to Jay E. Bell of Provo, Utah, in answer to inquiries concerning the beliefs and doctrines of the LDS Church (Strangites) and the RLDS Church (Independence). Concerns temple ordinances, revelation and prophets, tithing, the law of consecration, polygamy, the birth of Christ, Joseph Smith Jr., the Doctrine and Covenants, and other doctrines.

Photocopies of handwritten and signed letters, addressed to John M. Cannon, a Mormon businessman in Salt Lake City, Utah. Hall writes to defend the Church of Christ (Temple Lot) in its dispute over lands in Independence, Missouri, with the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Kendall County, Illinois Court writs
Photocopies of handwritten and printed writs. They declare that David Hyrum Smith, a leader in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, is legally insane and should be sent to an institution. Many of the items were signed by Joseph Smith, III, the founder of that faith. Also included are newspaper clippings and a certificate verifying David Smith's death.

These items relate to the numerous off-shoots of the two largest Mormon denominations, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Church or LDS Church) and the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (RLDS church) and their leaders. Also included is a photocopy of a letter by the Mormon prophet, Joseph Smith (1805-1844).

Typewritten and signed letters addressed to "Dear Brother," Frank S. Hawkins. Smith acknowledges receiving materials from Hawkins and comments on the "Book of Commandments" (Doctrine and Covenants) and on Paul, the apostle.

Contains several documents relating to Joseph Byron Smith's family history and the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint. Includes a letter to the editor written by Smith and its response, a couple of letters from Smith's father, Joseph Bailey Smith, regarding family history, and documents relating to the Joseph Smith, Sr. Family Reunion, such as invitations and information. Dated 1923-1975.
Joseph Smith III letters
Photocopies of handwritten and signed letters. The items were written from Illinois, Iowa, and Missouri and were addressed to "Cousin" Samuel H. B. Smith. The materials relate to the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and to politics in Utah.
