Handwritten diary. Jackman made the overland journey from Illinois to Utah in 1847 with the first company of Mormon pioneers. He writes about travelling conditions, weather, frequent encounters with Indians, and buffalo hunting. Jackman's company was led by Brigham Young, second president of the Mormon Church.
