Photocopy of a typescript of a diary and an autobiography. Clark's diary covers the years from 1855 to 1857 when Clark served as a missionary to the Indians in the Salmon River Mission. Clark's autbiography tells about his life in Logan and Clarkston, Utah, and his contacts with Indians.

Scope and Contents Contains a diary with the personal writings of Ernest C. Clayton. Dated December 12, 1928, to December 26, 1935. The first half of the diary is blank. Ernest recorded events from his mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Eastern United States from 1928 to 1929, mainly in New York. He likely began his mission before 1928, as the diary seems to pick up in the middle of the mission. In 1935, he returned to the diary and finished updating it about the last few days...

Clayton writes about his missionary activities for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in England and his return to the United States. He also writes about his daily activities in Nauvoo, Illinois. This item was typed by Alan S. Young in 1961. Also included are extensive footnotes relating to Clayton's entries into his journal.
