George Crane autobiography

Scope and Contents

Handwritten autobiography composed near the year 1912. Crane was converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints after he heard Orson Pratt (1811-1881), apostle for that religion, speak in England in 1864. He later served as president of the Wandsworth Branch of the Church. He migrated to Utah. Crane also writes about his courtship and marriage and about his mission to England from 1878 to 1880.

Alma Johnson diaries

Scope and Contents

Handwritten diaries for the years 1883-1885 and 1894-1896. Johnson kept these records while serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Great Britain. Two of the volumes are about the first mission while four are about the second.

Samuel H. B. Smith diary

Scope and Contents

The collection consists of photocopies of Smith's mission diary, his autobiography, some correspondence, and records of ordinances performed in the Endowment House in the 1870s. Smith kept his diary while serving on a mission to Great Britain (1860-1863). He recorded the activities and experiences of missionary life and activities. The autobiography is brief and covers from Smith's birth to 1857.

Scope and Contents Collection of documents related to May Booth Talmage, wife of James E. Talmage. Includes the original personal diary she kept from 1887 to 1892. Also includes a photocopy of the diary. The majority of the collection is photocopies of personal and family correspondence from 1890 to 1934 exchanged between May and James Talmage and their children.
