Biography of Return Jackson Redden

Photocopy of a typewritten biography of Return Jackson Redden. Redden was born in 1790, joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, migrated to Utah with the first wave of Mormon pioneers in 1847, and settled in Grantsville, Utah. "This history was read at the February 9, 1970 meeting of Camp Dale in Castle Dale, Emery County, Utah, by Nita Hampshire."

Photocopies of handwritten meeting minutes taken at the "Theology Class" or "School of the Prophets" in Grantsville, Utah. The class was addressed by the second president of the Mormon Church, Brigham Young (1801-1887), and other apostles and leaders of that church. Numerous topics relating to Mormon theology and doctrine were discussed as well as various issues on Grantsville.

Scope and Contents This collection consists of typescripts of biographies and histories of members of the Hammond family and their ancestors. The biography of Jasper Melvin Hammond (1882-1958) was written "by his wife and daughters" sometime after his death. Jasper, often called Jesse, was born in Providence, Utah but was raised in Marysville, Idaho. John Peter Johnson papers

Handwritten correspondence, diaries, notebooks, patriarchal blessings, certificates, an autobiography, and genealogical materials. The correspondence are between Johnson and his wife, Hana, and were written while Johnson was on a mission for the Mormon Church in Sweden. The diaries were kept while Johnson was on his mission and after his return to Ogden, Utah. The certificates deal with Johnson's numerous callings in the Mormon Church.

Biographical sketch of Ether E. McBride

Photocopy of a microfilm copy of a typed autobiography. McBride was born in Scotland in 1848 and came to Utah by handcart in 1856. He did not specify which handcart company he travelled with. He lived in Ogden and later in Grantsville, Utah. He played with Indian children in the Ogden area and learned their language and customs.
