Henry H. Turner memorandum of nearly three years service

Photocopy of a handwritten "memorandum" book. Turner lists his dates of service, the towns he passed through, the location of various camps and the dates he was there, his pay, marches he undertook, steamers on which he traveled, and engagements in which he participated. Turner served with Company H of the 27th Iowa and was involved in many campaigns apparently with the Union Army of Tennessee.

John W. Morrison letters

Photocopies of handwritten letters. These items were sent to Morrison's wife, Mahala Morrison. John writes about his military activities, relates various rumors, talks about how the Union plundered areas, and mentions the battle of Corinth, Mississippi. Some of the letters was written by Franklin Reid, who related that Morrison died of wounds sustained at the "Battle of the Hatchie" in Tennessee.

Recollections of a grandfather

Typescript prepared by Elizabeth H. Ball of an autobiography made by Thomas Wakeman Hall during 1889-1894 telling of Hall's childhood in Ohio, marriage, travels to California in 1849, life in mining towns, return to family in Wisconsin, Civil War experiences, and the death of his wife. Also includes a brief history of the Hall family written by Eleanor Lexington.

Henry T. Reynolds letter

Letter mentions the gunboat Pensicola, camp conditions, the death of Matthew Luis and why part of the letter is in pencil. The letter is written on printed stationary of the Pennsylvania Volunteers. Includes a photocopy of a photograph of Reynolds.
