Her husband is Dean Larsen, who became University Librarian in the Harold B. Lee Library on Brigham Young University campus and contributed significantly to the development of Brigham Young University's special collections. She tells stories having to do with her family and her husband's dealings with book dealers. Dated February 20, 2013.

Typescript of an interview (78 pages) conducted by LeGrand Baker on August 14, 1986 for the Brigham Young University Archives. Allen tells about the career and programs of John H. Perry (b. 1917), author and businessman, who had a plan called the National Dividend Plan to more effectively handle public assistance in the United States.
Mary A. Hicks interview with Viney Baker
Photocopy of a microfilmed copy of a typescript of an interview. Baker was interviewed by Mary A. Hicks in 1937 as part of the Federal Writer's Project for the Works Progress Administration. The item includes handwritten corrections. Baker was freed after the Civil War, but he continued to be forced to work, and he was treated very poorly. His mother was sold in the middle of the night. He describes severe beatings and being reunited with his mother.

Much of the materials deal with Bates's historical studies and writings, including the production of the film Reflections. Also included is an autobiographical sketch by Edward Wootton, Bates's father. Materials date from between 1958 and 1981.
