Photocopies of handwritten court proceedings of cases tried in Daviess County and Boone County, Missouri. The trials relate to Joseph Smith (1805-1844), the first president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and others being tried for treason; the trial of Parley P. Pratt (1807-1857), an apostle of the Church, for murder; testimony against Caleb Baldwin; and testimony against King Follet on charges of robbery. Dated 1839.

The collection consists of an account balance slip signed by Brigham Young, a stock certificate signed by Wilford Woodruff, John Bernhisel, among others; an incorporation bond; a record of trespass action against Lyman E. Johnson; a record of a court action; four receipts of per diem signed by Heber C. Kimball, Jedediah M. Grant, Orson Hyde, and Parley P. Pratt; and a petition for payment to E. D. Includes meeting minutes, record of members, and names of children blessed. Minutes reflect activities of Benjamin Winchester, Parley P. Pratt, Samuel Bennett, William Smith, George J. Adams, James J. Strang, and others. Reports of other Latter-day Saint congregations on the East Coast are also occasionally given.

Collection contains various items related to Pratt's missionary service and letters with his wives and other family. Includes a handwritten diary of Pratt and his wife, Phoebe Sopher Pratt, kept while the Pratts were on a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in South America from 1851 to 1852. Also included are three handwritten letters and eight fragments of manuscripts by Parley P. Pratt. All items date from 1851 to 1855.

Materials primarily contain correspondence between Russell and his family and letters to and from members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Also includes some correspondence between Parley P. Pratt and his family. Most of the letters are originals, except for a string-bound typescript copy of some letters dealing with Isaac Russell, the originals of which are not contained in the collection. Dated 1828-1893.

Scope and Contents Handwritten copy, in German, of Pratt's "Key to the Science of Theology." The Pratt document covers 177 pages. Also includes a seventeen-page handwritten copy, in German, of an account by Heber Q. Hale, president of the Boise Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, about going beyond the veil of death on 20 January 1920 to see the spirit world.
