Scope and Contents Materials include Emmeline B. Wells's handwritten diary dating from 1844 to 1846. This volume tells of Wells' overland journey from Nauvoo, Illinois, to Garden Grove, Iowa, in 1846. It also describe Wells's departure from Massachusetts in 1844 to join with the body of the Mormon Church at Nauvoo, Illinois. Some genealogy is also included. Wells writes detailed entries about daily chores, children, difficult travelling conditions, and her relationships with other women on the journey to Iowa....

Materials include Emmeline B. Wells's handwritten diary dated 1874 to 1875. It contains day-to-day events and thoughts. Emmeline mentions her concerns about Mellie whom she wishes had more faith. She also mentions dealing with "nervous attacks" which feel "like death." She also writes about her work with the Woman's Exponent and various family matters. The diary has a light brown plain leather cover. Dated 1874-1875.

The diary contains material about religion, family, the Church, work with the Woman's Exponent, and the community. Emmeline mentions a dream she had on January first about a transparent dove that came to rest on her bed, she felt it predicted a happy new year. Mentions the Lion House in Salt Lake City catching on fire and deaths of family members (not related to the fire). Dated 1881.

This diary describes travels to San Francisco and other areas in the western United States. It also describes a trip to the Boston World's Fair in August. Includes some entries written by Wells' daughter, Louisa. Dated July 1882 to August 1883.
