The materials document the various aspects of Reynolds's career and life. The diaries were kept largely when Reynolds was travelling in Europe and the Middle East.

Her entries are daily, tell of her activities, and often present her opinions and impressions as well. The accounts are often lengthy and detailed. The 1882 diary also includes entries by Well's daughter, Louisa.
