Includes a description of Abbott's life including his birth in Weber County, and life in Tocquerville and Plymouth, Utah, before moving to Bunkerville, Nevada, in 1877. He describes the stay of the Mormon Apostle, Wilford Woodruff, when he was in Bunkerville while dodging federal officials for polygamy. Also includes Abbott's marriage to Mary Leavitt in 1881 and life in Annabella, Sevier County, Utah, from 1886-1910, where he was involved...

Arza Adams autobiographies and diaries

Scope and Contents

Photocopies of microfilm copies of handwritten diaries. Adams joined the Mormon Church in 1836 and served as missionary for that faith in Canada. He moved to Nauvoo, Illinois, and worked on the Nauvoo Temple. He came to Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1849.

Typescript of a autobiography. Adams writes about his birth in Springfield, Illinois, his migration to Utah as a small child, his family's move to Parowan, Utah, and his subsequent life there. The item is "by Luella Adams Dalton" who probably typed and/or edited the manuscript.

Biography of John Olney Adams (native pioneer) and his wife, Mattie Marie Peterson

Photocopy of a microfilmed copy of a typewritten biography. John Olney Adams was born in American Fork, Utah, in 1861 and Mattie Marie Peterson was born in 1864 in Denmark. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and migrated to Utah. They married in 1884. John died in 1932 in Bingham, Utah, and Mattie died in 1928.

William Ajax letter to William Lewis

Materials include a photocopied letter from William Ajax (Centre, Utah) to William Lewis (Aberdare, Wales), dated March 18, 1893. Ajax writes about Wales, Utah, and the building of the Salt Lake City temple. He says that the fine quality masonry has been built by Welshmen. He also talks about his education, current interests, describes his emmigration from Wales to Utah, and discusses his opinions about Mormonism and religion. Dated March 18, 1893.

Photocopy of a microfilm copy of a typewritten biography. Alice Tomlison was born in 1857 in England. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and she migrated to Utah and settled in American Fork. She married Joseph Armstrong in 1871 and died in 1941.
