Don Searle

Scope and Contents Typewritten biography of Don Searle with handwritten corrections. Don was a native of Spanish Fork, Utah who attended Brigham Young University from 1935 to 1940. Don served in the Navy during World War II and worked as a broadcast journalist. He was killed in an automobile accident in 1946 before he turned 29 years old. Clark attended Brigham Young University with Searle and relates what student life was like at that institution in the 1930s.

Milton H. Hardy diaries

Scope and Contents Two handwritten diaries and pasted in newsclippings. Many diary entries were made in short hand. The newsclippings relate to Hardy's discussions of religion and educational matters and to his attempts to harmonize religion and science. Hardy travelled through Europe in 1875 and was active in Utah educational matters upon his return.

Edwin Smith Hinckley papers

Scope and Contents Correspondence, speeches, reports, and biographies. These materials relate to Hinckley's work at Brigham Young University as a faculty member and on the Alumni Association Board of Directors, as superintendent of the Utah State Industrial School, and as secretary of the Provo Chamber of Commerce. The biographies are eulogies given by Hinckley's friends and associates.

Jennie Groberg interviews with Lafayette Hinckley Holbrook

Scope and Contents Typescript of an interview taken from the included cassette sound tapes. The interview was conducted by Jennie Groberg in 1964 and 1965. Holbrook talks about his ancestors, and his wife, Alsina Elizabeth Brimhall (1876-1960), whom he met at Brigham Young University and married in 1901. He talks about his education, his children, his occupations, and his missionary experiences with the Maori people of New Zealand.

The topics covered include: writing (grades 1-4) and writing (grades 4-8), arithmetic (grades 2-8), geography and history (grades 4-7), and language and grammar (grades 1-8). These assignments were bound into books with "Lewis and Clark Exposition 1905 Provo Public Schools" on the spines.
