Biography of John and Louise Smith Park

Scope and Contents Typewritten copy of Mary's biography of her parents, but the bulk of the account is autobiographical. Mary tells of coming to Utah in 1847 including incidents en route. She tells of the early settlement of Salt Lake City and Provo, Utah including problems with Indians, crickets and grass hoppers, and the difficult living conditions.

Emma McDowell Jacobsen histories

Jacobsen, working for the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, compiled a list of the names of early pioneers who were buried in the Provo City cemetery in Provo, Utah, from 1849 to 1859. Also included is a history of the first deaths and burials in Provo, Utah. The old city cemetery was first located on the hill where Brigham Young University was later built.

Jones served in the Utah Militia during the Black Hawk War and had numerous occupations and positions in the Mormon Church. McBride was born in England, joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with his parents in 1856, and migrated to Utah. Scope and Contents Photocopy of a handwritten biography of Albert Merrill. Merrill was born on Long Island, New York; joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1841; moved to Nauvoo, Illinois, in 1843; migrated to Utah in 1852; and settled in Provo, Utah. He served on a mission for the Church to the Eastern States from 1869 to 1870 and was made a patriarch of the Church in 1873.
