The Andrus recorder

Scope and Contents "The Andrus Recorder," vol. 1 no. 1, Oct. 1964. The "Recorder" was dedicated to family news, history, and genealogy. This item includes an autobiography of Milo Andrus (1814-1893) composed in 1875. Milo was a Mormon pioneer, missionary, and colonizer who eventually settled in St. George, Utah.

Annie Miller Ottosen biographies

Scope and Contents Photocopies of handwritten and typewritten biographies of family members including sketches of Niels Peter Miller (1837-1921), Ellen Anderson Miller (1833-1929) and Ellen Anderson (1805-1890). These were Mormons who migrated to Utah from Denmark.

Scope and Contents Typewritten biographies of Utah pioneers. The volume was compiled by Dorothy Alvey Muhlestein. It is listed as "volume 5." Most of the subjects of the biographies were Mormons who settled in Utah. Also included is a history of Camp Manavu of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

Biography of Gerhard Jensen family

Scope and Contents 20 photocopied leaves of a typewritten manuscript by Arola McDonald about the Gerhard Jensen family. Gerhard Jensen was a Mormon pioneer who came to the Salt Lake Valley, Utah; a polygamist; and colonist in Brigham City, Utah.

Biography of John and Louise Smith Park

Scope and Contents Typewritten copy of Mary's biography of her parents, but the bulk of the account is autobiographical. Mary tells of coming to Utah in 1847 including incidents en route. She tells of the early settlement of Salt Lake City and Provo, Utah including problems with Indians, crickets and grass hoppers, and the difficult living conditions.

Scope and Contents Scapbooks. The materials are newspaper clippings glued into blank pages of a book entitled: "Day by day with the Utah pioneers 1847." The items were originally published in the newspapers the "Salt Lake Tribune" and the "Deseret News." The clippings refer to the migration of 1847 to Utah and the early settling of that state by Mormon pioneers.

Hammond family biographies and diary

Scope and Contents This collection consists of typescripts of biographies and histories of members of the Hammond family and their ancestors. The biography of Jasper Melvin Hammond (1882-1958) was written "by his wife and daughters" sometime after his death. Jasper, often called Jesse, was born in Providence, Utah but was raised in Marysville, Idaho. He worked in hotels in Yellowstone Park, for a railroad, and as a farmer.A typescript of the diary of Milton D. Hammond (1831- ) for the years...

Laura Moench Jenkins biographies

Scope and Contents Photocopies of biographies of Louis Frederick Moench by Laura Moench Jenkins and Howard C. Moench. Laura's account has some fanciful conversation in it as well as copies of letters. Howard's record contains some brief memories he has of his father. Lewis was born in 1846 in Germany and emigrated to the United States in 1852. He settled in Ogden, Utah where he was an educator.

Bengt Johnson autobiography

Scope and Contents Photocopies of a holograph autobiography. Bengt Johnson Sr. was a Swedish convert to the Mormon Church and was baptized in 1854. He came to Utah in 1862 and settled in Provo. His account largely tells of his adjustment to Mormonism.
