Arza Adams autobiographies and diaries

Scope and Contents

Photocopies of microfilm copies of handwritten diaries. Adams joined the Mormon Church in 1836 and served as missionary for that faith in Canada. He moved to Nauvoo, Illinois, and worked on the Nauvoo Temple. He came to Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1849.

Handwritten letter dated 1938 in which Adams states that she heard Martin Harris testify to the authenticity of the Book of Mormon in a speech given at the General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1870. Also included is a letter by Henry A. Orme in which he outlines the life of Charlotte Adams, his grandmother.

Biography of John Olney Adams (native pioneer) and his wife, Mattie Marie Peterson

Scope and Contents

Photocopy of a microfilmed copy of a typewritten biography. John Olney Adams was born in American Fork, Utah, in 1861 and Mattie Marie Peterson was born in 1864 in Denmark. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and migrated to Utah. They married in 1884. John died in 1932 in Bingham, Utah, and Mattie died in 1928.

William Ajax journals

Scope and Contents Contains holographs, photographs, and typescripts of journals, dated July 20 to December 27, 1861, and January 1, 1862 to December 31, 1863. The journals describe Ajax's activities as a missionary for the Mormon Church in England and Wales and include some newspaper clippings, part of which are from the Udgorn Seion, the Mormon publication in Wales.
