Scope and Contents Handwritten military orders and official correspondence plus photocopies. Also included is a hand-drawn map of the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation and nearby areas. Philip St. George Cooke letter

Scope and Contents

Handwritten letter dated 8 March 1886. Cooke responds to a request to give an account his part in the Utah Expedition, 1857-1858, during which a federal army entered Utah. Cooke writes about the march, the wintering at Fort Bridger, Wyoming, the establishing of Camp Floyd, Utah, and about his conversatins with Albert Sidney Johnston, who led the expedition.

John Scott Davenport correspondence and pamphlets

Scope and Contents

Handwritten and typewritten correspondence, travel brochures, and newspaper articles. Much of the correspondence was written while Davenport served in the United States military during the Second World War. He spent most of his time in California and Okinawa during that war. Also included is some correspondence between family members.

John T. Dorcheus correspondence and genealogy

Scope and Contents Correspondence, newspaper clippings, poetry, genealogies, temple record books, and miscellaneous items. The materials deal with Dorcheus, his family, and his genealogy. Most of the correspondence was between Dorcheus and his son, John Alexander Dorcheus, and other family members in 1918 when John was serving in the United States Army.
