There are many gaps in the entries including a sixteen-year gap from 1861 to 1877. Savage writes about his mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to "Siam" (Thailand) from 1852 to 1856. Scope and Contents
Typewritten excerpt taken from a "memo of his life and selections from his letters 1861-1872." Seward writes about coming to Utah by train and describes what he saw in Salt Lake City. He met the president of the Mormon Church, Brigham Young (1801-1877), and relates what Young said about Mormon polygamy.

Bathsheba W. Bigler Smith autobiography

Scope and Contents
Photocopy of a 260-page handwritten autobiography. Smith includes copies of correspondence and patriarchal blessings in her account. She joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1837, lived with the Mormons in Missouri and Illinois, married George Albert Smith in 1841, allowed him to take additional wives, came to Utah in 1849, and served as president of the Relief Society.

Handwritten letters and scratch notes. The letters are addressed to Jesse Nathaniel Smith from his relatives John Henry Smith and Joseph Fielding Smith. The authors discuss the present and possibly future social and political ramifications of the Edmunds Act (1882), and the Edmunds-Tucker Act (1887) on their lifestyles as polygamous Mormons.

Scope and Contents
Typewritten autobiography and photocopies of handwritten letters received by Smith. Also included are typescripts of Job Smith's "Recollections" of the first president of the Mormon Church, Joseph Smith (1805-1844), and photocopies of handwritten and typewritten certificates. The letters are from prminent Mormon Church leaders. Also included is a photocopy of a handwritten patriarchal blessing received by Smith.

Lorenzo Snow letter

Scope and Contents
Photocopy of a handwritten and signed letter, dated 1 March 1886, and addressed to Franklin S. Richards, a lawyer in Salt Lake City, Utah. Snow thanks Richards for "securing appeal in my three cases to the U. S. Supreme Court and promise of bail." The issue involved was probably a charge of polygamy made against Snow.

Photocopy of a handwritten autobiography with a typescript of the item. Also included are brief biographies of family members and patriarchal blessings. The date of the composition of the item is uncertain. Solomon writes about joining the Mormon Church, migrating to Utah, serving on a mission to the Indians of Arizona, meeting John D. Lee, and moving to Kanab, Utah.

Statement of Lloyd Ririe

Typewritten statement dated April 13, 1945. Ririe writes that he was on a train in Canada with the Mormon apostle, John A. Widtsoe, in 1945. Widtsoe told Ririe that he was present when John Wickersham Woolley, a temple worker for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, admitted that he had not been given authority to perform polygamous marriages after that practice was discontinued by the Church.
