Scope and Contents Typewritten draft of a biographical sketch written for the Utah State Historical Society of a Mormon pioneer, missionary, author-journalist and assistant Latter-day Saint Church historian. It describes (mainly through excerpts from his autobiography) his activities in those capacities, as well as his emigration from Denmark to Utah and family data. Also included are two articles by Newell Knight and an article from the Salt Lake City Historian's Office pertaining to "Washington Square."

Christian J. Larsen diary and autobiography

Scope and Contents Photocopies of a typescript of a diary and an autobiography. The diary covers the years from 1851 to 1857 and has many gaps. The autobiographical materials cover the rest of Larsen's life. Larsen was converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Denmark and performed missionary work in that country and in Norway. He moved to Utah in 1854 where he lived in Ogden, Ephraim, and Logan. He was married polygamously, participated in the Black Hawk War against the Ute Indians,...

Kanute Swensen diaries

Scope and Contents Handwritten diaries with bound photostat copies of the items. The first two volumes, covering the years 1857 to 1868, are in Danish, while the remainder are in English. Also included is a typewritten translation into English of the diaries for the years 1857 and 1858 when Swensen was serving a mission for the Mormon Church in Denmark. Swensen writes about his immigration to Utah and his life in Pleasant Grove.
