Collection consists of a forty-nine page minute book in which Robert L. Johnson recorded the proceedings of meetings called and carried out while Johnson was the bishop of a Fountain Green Branch. Content Description

Materials include a photocopy of a typescript of the diary of Henry Freeman, officer in the 7th Cavalry Regiment of the United States Army, written during a campaign in the western United States during the American Indian wars. Includes his account of the Battle of Little Big Horn in eastern Montana where Lieutenant Colonel George A. Custer was killed and his army was defeated by the the Lakota, Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho tribes. Dated March-October 1876.

Photocopy of typescript. Author discusses his family's British roots; their acceptance of Mormonism while living in Birmingham, England, and their immigration to the United States. Tolton also describes his experiences during the Black Hawk War (Utah) and frontier life in Utah. His account goes into great detail about his involvement in territorial and state politics, his business ventures, family life, and his mission to Great Britain for the Mormon Church.

Barzillai Frost travel journal

Scope and Contents Photocopies of the handwritten diary of Reverend Benjamin Fry, a prominent Methodist minister, written between September 28, 1861, and August 4, 1863, while serving as a military chaplain to the 22nd Regiment of the Ohio Voluntary Infantry during the Civil War. At the end of the diary, Fry includes two pages of dates and corresponding scripture references, which seem to be topics for sermons he (and sometimes others) gave in three different camps during the war. Luke William Gallup autobiography and diaries

Scope and Contents

Photocopy of a microfilm copy of a handwritten autobiography and diary. Gallup writes about his early life in Connecticut, his migration to Iowa, and how he joined the Mormon Church. Gallup moved to Springville, Utah, in 1851. He writes about his life in that town, his service during the Utah Expedition of 1857-8, his relationships to his wives, his mission for the Mormon Church to Connecticut. Gallup moved to Santa Ana, California, in 1888.
