Ebenezer Beesley papers

Scope and Contents Mormon hymn books, musical scores, newspaper clippings, a short autobiography, a biography, and letters. Also included is a photostat copy of a handwritten list of passangers on the William Tapscott in 1859. The Mormons on the ship later formed the George Rowley handcart company which emigrated to Utah in 1859. Also included is a typescript of a diary by an unnamed person describing the journey to Utah with the Rowley company. This is transcription from the Journal History of the Church...

Scope and Contents Correspondence, autobiographies, diaries, biographies, newspaper clippings, and school compositions. The correspondence, biographies, and diaries relate to Susan's family and parents. Many of the items relate to Mormon polygamy and to Butler's school career. Also included is a biography and biographical materials of Butler's father, Lemuel Hardison Redd.

Franklin T. East war history

Scope and Contents Photocopy of a bound autobiography (29 pages) and various letters, newspaper clippings, and photographs relating to East's life and military service. East was captured by the Japanese in the Philippines in April 1942 and survived the Bataan Death March and over three years as a prisoner of war in the Philippines and Japan. His autobiograpy mainly deals with his sufferings as a prisoner of war and with his faith in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Scope and Contents There is also a brief description of Helen Foster Snow's life and a few dates extracted from her book, "My China Years." Also includes four newspaper clippings dated between 1978 and 1997, relating to the production of a 1978 movie by Helen Foster Snow and Tim Cosidine; and on Helen Foster Snow's life and involvement with China. The film had not been released as of 1997.

Douglas R. Stringfellow papers

Scope and Contents Typed autobiography, newspaper clippings, letters received, typed copies of speeches, and newsletters entitled: "Day to Day with Doug." The materials deal with his motivational speeches before he was a congressman and his congressional career. The autobiography is an attempt by Stringfellow to correct the stories about his war experiences and about his various activities after he realized he had lied.

Genevieve Tietjen papers

Scope and Contents Correspondence, speeches, memorabilia, newspaper clippings, biographies, autobiographies, and patriarchal blessings for the Mormon Church. The materials relate to Genevieve Tietjen and her husband, Henry Roland Tietjen, particularly when Henry served as a mission president for the Mormon Church in Hawaii. The biographies and autobiographies relate largely to Sarah' ancestors.
