Scope and Contents Photocopy of a handwritten letter dated 1 Feb. 1908 and addressed to "Son & Daughter." The item was written in Manti, Utah. Bench writes about his early life in Utah. He tells about settling in Manti early in the 1850s and about the hardships he faced at that time. Scope and Contents Photocopies of handwritten and printed certificates, applications, correspondence, patriarchal blessings, and miscellaneous items. Most of the materials relate to Nelson's militia activities in Nauvoo, Illinois and in Utah. They include certificates relating to his various military appointments and applications for pensions relating to his military service. A few items relate to the "Walker War" (1853-1854) with the Ute Indians. A few of the materials were signed by the Mormon Church leaders...

Scope and Contents Photocopy of a microfilm copy of a typescript. Little writes about his youth and his participation in the war with Mexico. He tells about his conversion to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1849 and his subsequent migration to Utah in the same year. Little writes about his marriage to Mary Jane Lytle in December of 1849 and troubles with Indians in Utah Valley, Utah. George Peacock diary

Scope and Contents

Handwritten diary and a bound photocopy of the item. Peacock writes about his mission for the Mormon Church in Scotland, his work as a judge and postmaster, and his life in Sanpete County, Utah. He also relates many incidents of the Black Hawk War in Utah. There are many gaps in the record.

George Pectol autobiography

Scope and Contents

Two typewritten copies of excerpts from an autobiography. Some of the account is written in the form of a diary. Pectol writes about his conversion to the Mormon Church, his migration to Utah in 1850, and his life in Manti, Utah, starting in 1850. Pectol describes life in Manti including disagreements with his wife and encounters with the local Ute Indians before, during, and after the "Walker War" of 1853 to 1854.

Short history of Abraham Hunsaker

Scope and Contents

Phtocopy of a micrifilm copy of a handwritten autobiography. Hunsaker was born in Illinois and joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1840. Hunsaker lived in Utah County, Utah, and writes about troubles with Indians. He was sent to settle in Carson Valley, Nevada, and returned to Brigham City, Utah. He metions the "Utah War" in 1857 and 1858.
