Photograph of a handwritten and signed letter, dated 17 June 1844, and addressed to John P. Greene. Smith writes about his concerns on the possibilities of mob actions near Nauvoo, Illinois.
Joseph Smith letters
Photocopy of a handwritten letter with a typescript of the item. This letter is dated 27 June 1844 at 8:20 A.M. and was written from Carthage Jail. Also included is a typewritten copy of another letter dated 23 June probably also in the year 1844. Both letters were addressed to Smith's wife, Emma Hale Smith (1804-1879). Smith describes the condition of his incarceration, states that they have no valid case against him, and expresses the belief that he was in little danger.

Lorenzo Snow letter
The folder contains a printed letter addressed to B. F. Cummings, Jr. and dated 8 September 1894. The item is a form letter in which Cummings' name was handwritten. Snow, then president of the Salt Lake Temple of the Mormon Church, requests donations of books to build up the library of that temple.
Lorenzo Snow letter
Photocopy of a handwritten and signed letter, dated 1 March 1886, and addressed to Franklin S. Richards, a lawyer in Salt Lake City, Utah. Snow thanks Richards for "securing appeal in my three cases to the U. S. Supreme Court and promise of bail." The issue involved was probably a charge of polygamy made against Snow.
Lorenzo Snow letters to Margaret Pierce Whitesides Young
Photocopies of two handwritten and signed letters addressed to Margaret P. Young. The items are a birthday greeting from Snow and his wife, Minnie Jensen Snow, and a call for Young to work in the Salt Lake Temple of the Mormon Church.
Arthur Stayner letter
Handwritten and signed letter, dated 7 Oct. 1873, and addressed to Brigham Young, second president of the Mormon Church. Stayner writes to Young stating that another wagon should be sold in the ZCMI department stores.
