Carl Otto Holm papers

Scope and Contents

Handwritten diaries, autobiographies, and a ledger. Also included are typescripts of some of the items. Holm writes about his life in Idaho, his mission for the Mormon Church in the Western States, his excommunication from the Mormon Church over a dissagreement on polygamy, and his family. With the materials are diaries of Holm's wife Victorina Holm in Sweden.

Scope and Contents Handwritten and typewritten correspondence, histories, biographies, genealogical group sheets, patriarchal blessings, diaries, and land indentures in Idaho. The correspondence are between Purnell, her husband, and other relatives and deal largely with family matters. One of the letters is an account of the Battle of Bear River in 1863 by an observer. Also includes a handwritten biography of his mother, Emma Seraphine West Smith, and two handwritten historical articles, one describing the building of the Atlantic and Pacific Railroad in New Mexico, and the other relating Indian stories.
