Arza Adams autobiographies and diaries

Scope and Contents

Photocopies of microfilm copies of handwritten diaries. Adams joined the Mormon Church in 1836 and served as missionary for that faith in Canada. He moved to Nauvoo, Illinois, and worked on the Nauvoo Temple. He came to Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1849.

John Adams diaries

Photocopy of a microfilm copy of a handwritten diary. Adams lived in Oakley, Idaho, and writes about his daily routine. He was concerned about his health, the weather, and farm work. He also tells about various meetings for the Mormon Church.

Henry William Bigler diary

Scope and Contents Photocopy of a microfilmed copy of a typescript. The item is "extracts from missionary experiences. Copied from original diary owned by Delbert Bigler, Provo, Utah." The extracts start in 1853 when Bigler was on a mission for the Mormon Church in Hawaii. He writes about a smallpox epidemic and missionary experiences. He returned to Utah in 1855. Contains journals, correspondence, mission papers, speeches and notes, newspaper clippings, and memorabilia concerning Cowley's mission to New Zealand, time as a student in Washington, D.C., his life as a mission president and Apostle, and the development of missionary activity in the South Pacific and Orient. Also included are an autobiography by Elva T. Cowley and Cowley family histories.

Einar Erickson autobiography

Photocopy of a handwritten autobiography. Erickson describes his early life in Iceland, his conversion to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, his migration to Utah, his return to Iceland as an Mormon missionary, and his life in Spanish Fork and in Cleveland, Utah. Also included is a lengthy poem in Icelandic.

Luke William Gallup autobiography and diaries

Photocopy of a microfilm copy of a handwritten autobiography and diary. Gallup writes about his early life in Connecticut, his migration to Iowa, and how he joined the Mormon Church. Gallup moved to Springville, Utah, in 1851. He writes about his life in that town, his service during the Utah Expedition of 1857-8, his relationships to his wives, his mission for the Mormon Church to Connecticut. Gallup moved to Santa Ana, California, in 1888.
