John Claiborne Harper papers

Scope and Contents Handwritten diary, letters, certificates, paroles, and Mormon Church blessings. The diary was kept while Harper served on a mission to the Southern States for the Mormon Church from 1887 to 1888. Also included is an autograph book signed by Mormons in the Utah State prison for polygamy in 1889. Ira Hyer diaries

Scope and Contents

This collection consists of photocopies of Hyer's diaries. Hyer was called as a Mormon missionary to serve in the Society Islands and labored there from 1912 to 1915. From 1914 to 1915 he served as mission president of the Society Islands Mission. He was a soldier during World War I but saw no action being in Wales when the armistice was signed.

John McEwan diary

Scope and Contents Materials include a handwritten diary detailing McEwan's experiences from 1843 to 1858. The diary includes brief entries about his travels from Ireland to Nauvoo, Illinois, in 1843, and patriarchal blessings for both McEwan and his wife, Amanda. Samuel W. Richards diaries

Photocopies of excerpts from handwritten diaries. The items cover the years 1846-1847, 1857-1859, 1868, 1869, 1873, and 1875-1876. Richards lived in Nauvoo, Illinois, presided over the European Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, prepared Utah Militia units for an expedition into Sanpete County, and served on another mission to the Eastern United States. Also included are patriarchal blessings and miscellaneous items relating to Richards and his family.

Brigham Smoot family papers

Collection contains journals, letters, transcripts, and other materials produced by members of the Smoot family in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The materials document the missionary service of Brigham Smoot in Samoa and Tonga, the missionary service of Gilbert Van Schoonhoven, the military service of Roland Nesbit Smoot during World War II, and various family events and issues that were occuring at the time.
