Abstract The photograph collection, originally consisting of 39 nitrocellulose negatives and 14 gelatin dry plate negatives, totaling 53 negatives, now consists of only 27 nitrocellulose and 13 gelatin dry place negatives, totaling 40 negatives. Due to severe emulsion damage, these 40 negatives were salvaged from the collection, and many of them still have considerable emulsion damage. 25 of the photographs are images of the Alberta Temple, with 15 portraits of families and individuals in the...

The diaries are in six volumes and include genealogical items. The newspaper clippings relate to Anderson and his family.

Collotype taken by Eadweard Muybridge in 1887. The photograph is titled "Animal Locomotion, Plate 633" and is a series of twenty-four frames of a man riding a galloping horse. In one frame, all four of the horse's feet are off the ground.

An appeal to the president of the United States

Scope and Contents

Handwritten copy of a letter appealing to the president of the United States, James K. Polk. The item was copied in 1890, but the original was dated 1 June 1846. The letter states that the Mormons have been persecuted and appealed for aid. It is believed that Polk's call for volunteers to fight in the war with Mexico was an answer to this request. The "Mormon Battalion" was formed in consequence.
