Henry Baxter letters and reports
Handwritten letters and reports. Forty-four of the items deal with Baxter's activities during the Civil War. Many of them were written by Baxter and by other participants. They deal with a wide range of military matters including the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863 and the Battle of the Wilderness in 1864. Also included is official and family correspondence kept while Baxter was in Honduras.
Joshua Reuben Clark papers
Collection contains diaries, correspondence, genealogical records, newspapers clippings, photographs, diary transcriptions, and digital images on optical media.
John Fisher correspondence
Handwritten letters. Six of the items were written by John Fisher, while three were written by his brother, Theodore. John and Theodore tell about their experiences in the Army of the Potomac.
J. R. Goodwin letters
George W. Hadden correspondence
Handwritten and signed correspondence. The items were written by Hadden and others who were probably family members. The materials relate activities in the gold fields of California and also tell about activities during the Civil War. Also included is a printed poem about the Battle of the Wilderness in 1864.
Frank Hall letters
Henry H. Turner memorandum of nearly three years service
Photocopy of a handwritten "memorandum" book. Turner lists his dates of service, the towns he passed through, the location of various camps and the dates he was there, his pay, marches he undertook, steamers on which he traveled, and engagements in which he participated. Turner served with Company H of the 27th Iowa and was involved in many campaigns apparently with the Union Army of Tennessee.
John W. Morrison letters
Photocopies of handwritten letters. These items were sent to Morrison's wife, Mahala Morrison. John writes about his military activities, relates various rumors, talks about how the Union plundered areas, and mentions the battle of Corinth, Mississippi. Some of the letters was written by Franklin Reid, who related that Morrison died of wounds sustained at the "Battle of the Hatchie" in Tennessee.
