David Hammond Allred letter

Norma B. Ricketts biography of Thomas and Elizabeth Rhoades

Scope and Contents Photocopy of a typewritten biography of Thomas Rhoades and his wife, Elizabeth. Thomas was a Mormon who lived near Nauvoo, Illinois, migrated to California in 1846, participated in the rescue of the Donner-Reed Party, mined for gold in California, came to Utah in 1848, became the first treasurer of Salt Lake City, Utah, found gold in the Uinta Mountains of Utah, and was a polygamist. The material on Elizabeth is very sketchy.

Don tells about John and Elizabeth's conversion to the Mormon Church, their migration to Utah, their settlement in Grantsville, Utah, John's death, and Elizabeth's move to Taylor, Arizona.
