Sheldon Riser Brewster papers

Scope and Contents Autobiographies, official correspondence, newspaper clippings, certificates, and miscellaneous items. These materials document the life and civic and church careers of Brewster. They include letters from prominent Utah politicians and newsletters Brewster sent to members of his ward who were in the U.S. military forces during World War II.

Melissa Brownell letter

Scope and Contents Handwritten and signed letter, addressed to "Beloved Sisters," dated June 26 of an unknown year. Internal evidence suggests the item may have been written in the 1880s, but this is uncertain. Brownell writes about men, marriage, and polygamy largely in negative terms. She mentions Mormon men bringing their polygamous wives to California.

Susan Elizabeth Redd Butler papers

Scope and Contents Handwritten letter in pencil. The item was addressed to Martha's uncle, Harison Laurence, of Selma, Illinois, and was postmarked March 28 of an unspecified year. Martha writes about her trip by train to Utah. She gives her impression of seeing Mormon polygamists in a town six miles north of Salt Lake City, Utah.
