Scope and Contents Handwritten diary of Walker's overland journey by ox and mule team from Boston, Massachusetts to Sacramento, California in 1849. Daily entries give good description of travelling conditions. Walker describes cholera outbreaks, a variety of disagreements in the company, and attempted trade with 800 Dakota Indians. John Bates Warall letter

Handwritten and signed letter written at Camp Floyd, Utah and addressed to Colonel Daniel Ruggles at Fredericksburg, Virginia. Warall gives a general report on the condition and activities of the camp which includes the establishment of musical bands, temperance societies, masonic lodges, and other organizations and events promoting morale among the soldiers.

Typescript (plus carbon copy) of an autobiography written by Watkins which gives a life history from his birth until his arrival in Utah in 1852. Also includes a typewritten biography of Watkins from 1852 to his death, written by his daughter, Aurilla Watkins Whipple. Also includes a typescript of Watkins' certificate of United States citizenship and a letter from the donor.

Scope and Contents Photocopy of a microfilm copy of a typewritten manuscript. The item is a biography of Mary Emma Lowder Webb, who was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1863. Her family moved to Parowan, Utah, in 1863 and then to Panguitch, Utah, in 1864. The family moved to Paragoonah, Utah, in 1866 because of the Black Hawk War with Ute Indians.
