Typewritten research paper for a History 400 class taught by Gustive O. Larson in the Spring Semester of 1969 at Brigham Young University. Johnson writes about the three black men who accompanied the first Mormons into the Salt Lake Valley in 1847. These men were Green Flake, Hark Lay, and Oscar Crosby.

Mary joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; moved to Utah; settled near Kamas, Utah; and spent her last days in Scipio, Utah.

The item is an account of Thomas Durham, his wife, Carol, and his son, Thomas Jr., when they were travelling from Payson, Utah, to Salt Lake City, Utah, to attend General Conference of the Mormon Church. They were camped on "this side" [south?] of the Provo River when "a man rode up on a beautiful b---- pony, with four white feet, all so clean. . . . Scope and Contents Photocopy of a microfilm copy of a newspaper article called "Life Sketch of T. A. Waddoups." The item was created at an unknown time. Waddoups was the president of the Hawaiian Colony and manager of the Isepa Agricultural and Stocky Company from 1901 to 1917. In 1868 Hawaiian converts began coming to Utah to perform their Mormon temple ordinances. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints purchased the Quiney ranch in Skull Valley, Utah, In Tooele County. Also included is a...

Biographical sketch of the life of Samuel Wagstaff

Scope and Contents

Photocopy of a microfilm copy of a typewritten biography. Samuel Wagstaff was born in 1820 in England, married Lucy Webb in 1840, and joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1849. He migrated to Utah in 1862 and settled in American Fork. Samuel went to prison for polygamy in 1888 and died in 1897. The title page of the item states, "by Ada W. Barratt." At the end of the biography is written, "Sketch written by Bertha N. Sager."

Charles L. Walker and Zaidee Walker Miles papers

Materials include poetry and histories of Walker and his wife Abigail Middlemass Walker. It contains an undated bound volume of typed poetry on carbon paper by Walker, Walker's history of the St. George Temple copied by his daughter Zaidee Walker Miles, and a brief unbound biography of Abigail Middlemass Walker created by Zaidee Walker Miles. Materials dated 1939-1943.

Letter dated 15 Jan. 1976 and addressed to LeGrand Baker, archivist at Brigham Young University. Walker writes about his ancestors, John Beauchamp Waler and Elizabeth Ann Walker. Don tells about John and Elizabeth's conversion to the Mormon Church, their migration to Utah, their settlement in Grantsville, Utah, John's death, and Elizabeth's move to Taylor, Arizona.
