Biography of Samuel Kendall Gifford, pioneer of 11 September 1850

Scope and Contents Photocopy of a microfilmed copy of a typewritten biography. Samuel Kendall Gifford was born in New York in 1821 and joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-days Saints. He migrated to Utah in 1850, settled in Washington County, Utah, had four wives, and died in 1907.

Scope and Contents note The collection contains Campbell's original handwritten journal where he describes his missionary experiences in Scotland; emigration to Nauvoo, Illinois; experiences traveling to Utah as a Mormon pioneer; and duties as a Mormon Church leader. Dated 1843-1848. Campbell also added to the end of his journal handwritten transcriptions of his missionary certificate, his appointment to the Glasgow Conference, and a letter to the Church in Wales from Franklin D. Richards. Dated 1849-1850....

James Fennemore letter

Vera Grace Morley Ipson biographies

Scope and Contents Typewritten biographies of members of the Morley family. These items were created at unknown dates and are believed to have been collected by Vera Ipson. The Morley's were Mormons who settled in Manti, Utah. Also included are excerpts from a diary kept by Hannah Blakeslee Finch Merriam Morley when she migrated to Utah in 1848.

Life of Samuel Rowley

Robert McKell autobiography

Scope and Contents Photocopies of a typescript. McKell tells about his life in Scotland, his conversion to the Mormon Church, his family, and his journey to Utah. McKell completed his account roughly to the year 1850. Emma Jane Brockbank added a few paragraphs telling about McKell's life after that time.

Minerva Wade Hickman autobiography

Scope and Contents Handwritten autobiography. Hickman writes about her experiences in migrating to Utah in the 1840s and in settling in that state. She also includes "a list of names of Births since I came to North Ogden" in which she lists the name and sex of each child born in that community. Also included are genealogies of Hickman and Wade family members.
