Susan Ellen Johnson Martineau autobiography

Photocopy of a microfilm copy of a typed autobiography. McBride was born in Scotland in 1848 and came to Utah by handcart in 1856. He did not specify which handcart company he travelled with. He lived in Ogden and later in Grantsville, Utah. He played with Indian children in the Ogden area and learned their language and customs.

Heber Robert McBride autobiography

McBride was born in England, joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with his parents in 1856, and migrated to Utah. McBride writes about migrating to Utah in the ill-fated handcart company led by Edward Martin. He tells about the hardships he and his family faced. Peter McIntyre autobiography

Scope and Contents Typewritten copy of an autobiography. McIntyre served in the British Army in Spain and France during the Napoleonic Wars. He was also sent to the United States to fight Americans in 1815. After the war, he returned to Scotland. He later heard Mormon missionaries preach and was converted to their faith around the year 1841. Robert McKell autobiography

Photocopies of a typescript. McKell tells about his life in Scotland, his conversion to the Mormon Church, his family, and his journey to Utah. McKell completed his account roughly to the year 1850. Emma Jane Brockbank added a few paragraphs telling about McKell's life after that time.

John McNeill autobiography

Photocopy of a microfilm copy of a typewritten autobiography. John McNeill was born in 1827 in Scotland. He joined the Mormon Church and migrated to the United States. His first wife died of cholera. He later came to Utah and settled in American Fork. He died in 1902.

Biography of Alexander Melville

Scope and Contents

Photocopy of a microfilm copy of a typewritten autobiography. Melville was born in Scotland in 1821, worked on a ship that hunted whales, lived in Nauvoo, Illinois, and migrated to Utah in 1852. He lived in Provo, Utah, campaigned against Utah Indians in 1853, and settled in Fillmore, Utah. He died in 1911.

Mary Richards writes about her conversion to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in England, resistance after her baptism, and talks a lot about her association with Heber C. Kimball, an apostle in the LDS Church. Also included is a newspaper clipping which is an obituary of Phinehas Richards, Mary's father-in-law and an early settler of Sanpete County, Utah.
