Biographical sketch of William Armstrong

Photocopy of a microfilm copy of a typewritten biography of William Armstrong by Coddington. Armstrong was born in 1805 in Scotland, joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and migrated to Utah in 1853. He worked in Salt Lake City, Utah, but later moved to American Fork, Utah, where he died in 1895.

Jonathan Harriman Holmes diary

Photocopy of a typescript of a diary kept from 1846 to 1848. Holmes writes about enlisting in the Mormon Battalion, the march to Santa Fe and to California, being discharged from the service, and his travels to Sacramento, California, and to Salt Lake City, Utah. Also included is an obituary for Holmes, his account book, and biographies of Franklin Weaver and Sarah Elizabeth Holmes.

William Decatur Kartchner autobiography

Handwritten autobiography. Kartchner writes about his early life in Pennsylvania; joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1843 and subsequently moving to Nauvoo, Illinois; and his migration to Utah in 1847. He lived in serveral places in Utah and settled in Arizona. Also included is a partriarchal blessing for Etta Kartchner.

James A. Little diaries and autobiography

Scope and Contents Photocopy of a microfilm copy of a typescript. Little writes about his youth and his participation in the war with Mexico. He tells about his conversion to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1849 and his subsequent migration to Utah in the same year. Little writes about his marriage to Mary Jane Lytle in December of 1849 and troubles with Indians in Utah Valley, Utah. Little kept a diary from 1 January 1856 to 12 August 1857 when he served as a missionary for the Mormon...

Photocopy of a typewritten biography of Thomas Rhoades and his wife, Elizabeth. Thomas was a Mormon who lived near Nauvoo, Illinois, migrated to California in 1846, participated in the rescue of the Donner-Reed Party, mined for gold in California, came to Utah in 1848, became the first treasurer of Salt Lake City, Utah, found gold in the Uinta Mountains of Utah, and was a polygamist. The material on Elizabeth is very sketchy.
