William Ajax journals

Scope and Contents Contains holographs, photographs, and typescripts of journals, dated July 20 to December 27, 1861, and January 1, 1862 to December 31, 1863. The journals describe Ajax's activities as a missionary for the Mormon Church in England and Wales and include some newspaper clippings, part of which are from the Udgorn Seion, the Mormon publication in Wales. Lorraine Morton Ashton collection on Ermel J. Morton

Scope and Contents

Collection consists of papers relating to the dictionary Ermel J. Morton, a Mormon missionary who went to Tonga, created from English to Tongan and Tongan to English, his accounts of his mission and translating the Book of Mormon, a history of his wife, a catalog of his materials from home, a typed copy of the talks at his funeral and a Tongan grammar book. There is also a book written about the time the family spent in Tonga.

G. Baidukoff speech

Scope and Contents

Typewritten translation of a speech given in Moscow, Russia, after Baidukoff's return from flying to March Field, California. He relates his impressions of the "Capitalistic" society outside the Soviet Union. The item was translated from Russian into English by Nickoli Vishnevski. Also included is a newspaper clipping from the New York Times reporting on the trip.

Scope and Contents

Handwritten letter dated 6 Aug. 1895 and addressed to H. B. Tedrow, an autograph collector in Omaha, Nebraska. Balestier writes that Rudyard Kipling will return to Vermont in September and will only give his autograph to those who first contribute $2.50 to "The Tribune Fresh Air Fund" of New York.

Jim Barnes papers

It also contains personal documents such as correspondence, bills, and photos.

Scope and Contents

Original pen and ink drawing, initialed, and dated 24 Feb. 1893. The item depicts a mother mouse holding a baby mouse with two other mice in a cradle. This is one of a set of six drawings intended to illustrate "There was an old woman who lived in a shoe," which was never published. It was later used in "Appley Dapply's Nursery Rhymes." It was also used in "The Tale of Two Bad Mice."
