Alma Greenwood diary and scrapbook

Scope and Contents Handwritten diary and scrapbook. The journal was kept from 1 Jan. to 31 Dec. 1883 when Greenwood was serving as a missionary in New Zealand. He reports on his daily activities in entries that are often lengthy and detailed. The scrapbook was created by Alma's wife, Florence Greenwood. It contains newspaper clippings from the 1880s that relate to Mormons, Utah, and to national happenings.

Scope and Contents Scrapbooks, correspondence, meeting minutes, typescript of a master's thesis, newspaper clippings, sermons, poems, diaries, and an autobiography published as "An Acorn Became an Oak." The materials deal with Heidenrich's life, career as a Congregationalist minister, his angelic visitations, and his conversion to the Mormon Church.

The materials cover a large number of topics because of Young's involvement in religion, education, government (historical societies), and professional organizations. The diaries were kept while Young was serving as a missionary for the Mormon Church in Switzerland.
