Scope and Contents

Collection includes correspondence and other various papers that give information on George H. Johnson's experience on the Western Front as a part of the 1st Canadian Tunneling Company in World War I. The correspondence is scattered, a lot of it undated, and gaps between letters are evident. The other materials include newspaper clippings, booklets, and an empty scrapbook.

Kowallis family papers

Scope and Contents Collection contains photographs taken by Reinhart Kowallis during his service in and after WWII in the United States Army from 1940 to 1946, and letters between Reinhart and Norma Kowallis from 1944 to 1945 while Reinhart was deployed during World War II. Includes images of Guam and Okinawa. Also contains Norma Kowallis's 1948 journal, which includes mementoes from President George Albert Smith's visit to Pleasant View, Utah, and a book written by Bart J. Kowallis in 2015, transcribing...

Milton Kurzrok letter

Scope and Contents

Handwritten letter dated 31 Aug. 1945 and addressed to Manuel W. Goodman of Brooklyn, N.Y. The second leaf of the letter is missing, so the item is not signed. Kurzrok writes about playing tennis and meeting Lt. Gen. James Doolittle. Kurzrok was impressed with Doolittle and called him a "very regular guy." Also included is the envelope in which the letter was sent.

There are also three letters dated 1859 and 1863 from California and Nebraska to Utah. Dated 1859-2011.

1 handwritten letter (1 page); 22 October 1805; 21 x 33 cm; light blue "crown" stationary, with fine watermark; (unsigned) "General Order" dated "Euryalus Cape Trafalgar 22 Oct 1805." Letter written in honor of the British naval victory at Trafalgar the preceding day: "A day should be appointed of general humiliation before God, and thanksgiving for his merciful goodness."
