In this autographed reminiscence, Colfax describes his stagecoach trip from Missouri to California in 1865. It is likely he made the trip in his capacity as chair of the Committee on Post Offices and Post Roads. Handwritten and signed letter addressed to Mr. Walker and dated August 10, 1900. It concerns the expected arrival of Bell's family in New York enroute to England. It also states that Bell accepts Walker's offer to leave Bell's son Archie in Walker's care during the abscence of their family. Bell also writes about the market for "mobiles."
