William H. Homer research papers

Scope and Contents

Collection includes handwritten and typewritten research notes, articles, genealogies, diaries, and biographies. Also included is Homer family correspondence. The family members lived in Utah, Wyoming, and Montana. The notes relate to Homer's research on Martin Harris (1783-1875). Also included is a diary Homer's father, William Harrison Homer, Sr., kept while he was on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in England from 1867 to 1868.

William Alonzo Hyde letter

Scope and Contents

Handwritten and signed letter addressed to Mrs. Louisa W. Holmes, Hyde's aunt in Fulton, Illinois. The item was written in Kaysville, Utah, on 26 Nov. 1885. Hyde defends the beliefs of the Mormon Church particularly the practice of polygamy.

Isgreen family correspondence

Scope and Contents

Holographs, two printed items and one typescript. The collection includes 28 letters written by or to members of the Isgreen family, 15 of which are written by or to Emil Isgreen. The correspondence is generally family news with a few business letters, two missionary letters from Wales and a description of Mattie Isgreen's travel in Hawaii. Also included are an invitation to a ball, 1896, the Democratic ticket for Provo, Utah, ca. 1900, and a thought on prayer.

John Peter Johnson papers

Scope and Contents

Handwritten correspondence, diaries, notebooks, patriarchal blessings, certificates, an autobiography, and genealogical materials. The correspondence are between Johnson and his wife, Hana, and were written while Johnson was on a mission for the Mormon Church in Sweden. The diaries were kept while Johnson was on his mission and after his return to Ogden, Utah. The certificates deal with Johnson's numerous callings in the Mormon Church.

William Derby Johnson diary

Scope and Contents This collection consists of photocopied diaries. The initial thirty-two pages are autobiographical and tell of the first twenty-one years of the author's life. The journal entries are from December 2, 1871 to January 24, 1894. The years 1873 to 1876 are summarized. Johnson attended Deseret University and later taught there. He married Lucy A.
