Photocopy of typescript. Includes a number of letters written to Tenney by such people as Brigham Young (1801-1877), Wilford Woodruff (1807-1898), and John W. Young (1844-1924) concerning the purchase of land at St. Johns, Arizona, for Mormon settlement, missionary work among the Indians, and obtaining work for Mormon settlers by bidding on raliroad contracts. Some of Tenney's replies are also included. Folder also includes typescript copy of Tenney's journal for 1875-1876.

Nancy Alexander Tracy autobiography

Scope and Contents

Typescript of autobiography. Nancy was born in New York and raised by her grandparents. She married Moses Tracy in 1832 and joined the Mormon Church in 1834. She lived in Kirtland, Ohio; Far West, Missouri; Nauvoo, Illinois; "Winter Quarters"; and Ogden, Utah. She witnessed and experienced some of the persecutions of Mormons in Missouri and Illinois. She went with her husband on a mission to New York and was a member of the Mormon Relief Society in Nauvoo. She covers her life until 1860.

John Van Cott papers

Scope and Contents

Correspondence, diaries, and a family history. The correspondence is between Van Cott and family members. Also included are handwritten and signed letters from Brigham Young, second president of the Mormon Church, to Van Cott. The diaries cover the time when Van Cott served as a missionary for the Mormon Church from 1852 to 1856 and from 1859 to 1862. He was in Iowa City, Iowa, when the first handcart companies left for Utah.

Biographical sketch of the life of Samuel Wagstaff

Scope and Contents

Photocopy of a microfilm copy of a typewritten biography. Samuel Wagstaff was born in 1820 in England, married Lucy Webb in 1840, and joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1849. He migrated to Utah in 1862 and settled in American Fork. Samuel went to prison for polygamy in 1888 and died in 1897. The title page of the item states, "by Ada W. Barratt." At the end of the biography is written, "Sketch written by Bertha N. Sager."
