Jacob G. Bigler autobiography

Scope and Contents Photocopy of a typescript of an autobiography. Bigler writes about his relationship with the first president of the Mormon Church, Joseph Smith (1805-1844), his life in Nauvoo, Illinois, his migration to Utah, and his life in Nephi, Utah. Bigler served on a mission for the Mormon Church in Ireland and was active in Mormon Church activities in Nephi.

John A. Blythe journal

Scope and Contents Photocopy of typescript. Describes his trip from Salt Lake City to the site of Joseph City and daily life in the United Order in that town. The diary also discusses the author's departure on a supply trip to Salt Lake City and concludes with his arrival in St. George, Utah en route.

A one-page autobiographical sketch entitled "History of John A. Blythe, From his birth to Feb. 3rd, 1876" is also included.

Brigham Young letter to Rufus C. Allen

Scope and Contents Photocopy of a handwritten letter dated 1 March 1857 and addressed to Refus C. Allen. Young writes about protection against the Indians, presenting a good example for the Indians, and gives his approval for a school for Indian children.

David Coombs diaries and records of temple work

Scope and Contents Handwritten diaries, financial records, and records of temple work performed for the Mormon Church. The items include an autobiography written by Coombs which covers his early years until 1884 when he started keeping a diary. He kept his journal from 1884 to 1928 with a gap from 1897 through 1899. Coombs relates his expriences while living in various communities in Sanpete and Cache Counties, Utah. Also included are patriarchal blessings of family members.
