Joseph Hatten Carpenter diaries

Scope and Contents Handwritten diaries, notes, account books, correspondence, and a translation of the Book of Mormon into the Samoan language. Carpenter writes about his mission for the Mormon Church in Samoa and about his activities as a resident of Manti. Late in life, Carpenter moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. Also included is a printed copy of a microfilm copy of a handwritten diary. Carpenter also writes about his early life and his travels to northern Germany and France in 1884 and 1885.

Alma Helaman Hale papers

Scope and Contents Handwritten diaries from 1889 to 1890 and 1909, notebooks, autobiographies, and notes. The diary was kept while Hale served on a mission for the Mormon Church in Great Britain and Ireland. The notebooks were kept while Hale was attending the University of Deseret.

Reinhard Maeser papers

The materials relate to Reinhard's missions for the Mormon Church, his teaching activities, and his relationship to his family. Correspondents include Karl G. Maeser and Reinhard's wife, Sarah Caroline Shepherd.

Alva Christopher Merkley diary and notes

Scope and Contents Handwritten diary and notes. The diary covers the years from 1902 to 1904 while Merkley served as a missionary for the Mormon Church in the Samoan Islands. Some of the notes are in Samoan.
