Ralph M. Aldous letters

Scope and Contents Handwritten and signed letters. Aldous writes to Phyllis whom he often refers to as "sweetheart" and "my dear." Aldous talks about his missionary experiences, complains that his parents never write, and asks about what is happening at home.

William Frank Atkin papers

Scope and Contents Correspondence, diaries, and a biography. The diaries relate to Atkin's missions to New Zealand from 1903 to 1906 and from 1916 to 1918. The correspondence is from family members and friends and largely relates to family matters and to Atkin's missionary activities. The biography is a history of Atkin's father, Thomas Atkin (1833-1919), who was a Mormon pioneer that was active in Tooele County politics. Jesse O. Ballenger letters

Scope and Contents Photocopies of typescripts of four letters by Ballenger, three addressed to President Brigham Young and one to Apostle John Taylor outlining conditions in the settlement at Sunset Crossing, Arizona. Content includes relationship with local Native American tribes. Dated 1876-1877.

Emery F. Barrus letters and diary

Scope and Contents Nine handwritten letters and 6 pages of Elder Emery F. Barrus' journal kept while he served as a missionary for the Mormon Church in the Southern States Mission in 1899. Letters and journal describe both Barrus' travels and attempts to preach the restored gospel, primarily to people of Tennessee and Missouri. Both letters and journal pages are photocopied for patron use. Also included are the funerary program and a newspaper obituary of Ruth Hammond Barrus.

Willard Washington Beans papers

Scope and Contents Photocopies of a typewritten autobiography, a newspaper clipping, a Mormon Church blessing, and an essay. Also included are photocopies of handwritten letters received by Bean. These items include letters received from Mormon Church leaders Heber J. Grant and J. Golden Kimball. Bean was a missionary to the Southern States and lived in Palmyra, New York from 1915 to 1939.

Jacob G. Bigler diaries and correspondence

Scope and Contents Photocopy of a microfilm copy of handwritten diaries and correspondence. Bigler was a bishop for the Mormon Church in Nephi, Utah. He also served as a member of the Utah territorial legislature and was mayor of Nephi. Bigler served as a Mormon missionary to Ireland and as president of the European Mission for that same faith. The collection also includes correspondence between Bigler and family members mostly when he served as a missionary in Ireland.

Geroge Black diaries and letters received

Scope and Contents Handwritten diaries and letters. The diaries were kept from 1891 to 1894 when Black was serving as a missionary for the Mormon Church in Great Britain. The two letters were written to him by a son and a daughter when he was living in Manti, Utah.
