Lorraine Morton Ashton collection on Ermel J. Morton

Scope and Contents Collection consists of papers relating to the dictionary Ermel J. Morton, a Mormon missionary who went to Tonga, created from English to Tongan and Tongan to English, his accounts of his mission and translating the Book of Mormon, a history of his wife, a catalog of his materials from home, a typed copy of the talks at his funeral and a Tongan grammar book. There is also a book written about the time the family spent in Tonga.

Sybren van Dyk diaries

Scope and Contents Contains handwritten diaries by Van Dyk, as well as a typed translation. The diaries record Van Dyk's experiences and the work in which he was involved as mission president in the Netherlands in short entries.

Santry Elmer papers

Scope and Contents Collection includes mission journals and other personal ephemera belonging to Santry Elmer; missionary teaching material; historical reports related to the fall of South Vietnam to northern Communism; and related Church and governmental publications. Subjects of materials relate to Elmer's experience serving as a missionary in Vietnam until missionaries were evacuated in April 1975, their subsequent waiting in Hong Kong, and being reassigned to serve in Vietnamese refugee camps in California....

William Farrer diaries and letters

Scope and Contents Contains seven handwritten volumes, plus typescripts which focus on Farrer's Hawaiian Mission, 1850-1854. Volume one contains accounts of his work in the California gold fields prior to his mission call. Volume seven is entirely in the Hawaiian language. Also included are photocopies of typescripts of 71 letters written to and by Farrer when he served in the Hawaiian Islands.

Gustave Waldemar Forsberg photographs

Scope and Contents Materials include several photographs of the Forsberg family during the time that Gustave served as the mission president in Sweden. Materials also include other photographs taken in the US including photographs of Yellowstone National Park. Dated approximately 1925-1943.

Delbert R. Hales missionary journal

Identifier: MSS SC 3011
Scope and Contents Bound diary produced by Hales describing his experiences as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the German-Austrian Mission. The journal begins with him in Salt Lake City and continues in Meerane, Aschersleben, and Leipzig, Germany. The last few pages of the volume contain street addresses and notes.

William Lawrence Hansen photograph album

Scope and Contents Photograph album that was likely used by William Lawrence Hansen while serving in the Swiss and German Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1887 to 1890. Thales Hastings Haskell diary

Scope and Contents Handwritten diary. Haskell writes about his experiences with various Indian tribes in Arizona when he was serving as a missionary for the Mormon Church. He was accompainied by Jacob Hamblin and others. Fifteen pages of the item are written in the Deseret Alphabet. Some of the manuscript pages have been torn off and one page is missing.

Albert Stephen Jones papers

Scope and Contents Contains diaries and photographs, including twenty stereographs, documenting Jones's experience as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Samoa and Tonga from 1893 to 1896. The diaries detail his daily activities and talk about the nature of his work. Jones continued to write in these diaries after his return to Provo, Utah until 1902.
