A. J. A. R. reminiscence
Handwritten and signed manuscript describing the travels of the author by sea from Philadelphia to San Francisco in 1853. The account includes the author's experiences crossing Panama, traveling aboard the S. S. Lewis, and being shipwrecked and rescued twenty miles north of San Francisco.

William Clarke, Independence, Missouri, letter to Morris L. Hallowell and Co., Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 1850 May 21
A handwritten letter from William Clarke, in Independence, Missouri, to his creditors at Morris L. Hallowell and Co., in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. William Clarke is informing them of his decision to travel to "the Mormon Settlement at Salt Lake" to sell his stock of goods. He adds that he has formed a partnership with a Mr. Packard and a Mr. James for the purpose. Dated May 21, 1850.
Eva Charlotta Anderson Bjork diary
Photocopy of a handwritten diary in six pages. Eva Bjork writes about migrating from Sweden to Utah in 1884. Also included is a biography of Eva's husband, William Bjork. William migrated from Sweden to Utah in 1868. He worked for the railroad and lived in several places in Utah. He finally settled in Provo, Utah. The author of the item is unknown and the date of its composition is uncertain.
Zane Grey literary manuscript for The Water Hole
Minnie P. Grow letter
Photocopy of a letter from Minnie to mother Grow, and another relative named Nell. Minnie writes about a trip she made from Sacramento, California to Salt Lake City, Utah. She writes that she went by railroad and describes the places in Salt Lake City that she saw. She mentions meeting the family of Brigham Young while in Utah. Included is a typed transcription of the letter. Dated June 20, 1871.
History of the building of the Zion Cable and Saw Mill
Photocopied portions of Flanigan's diary pertaining to the decision to build and the actual construction of the Zion Cable and Saw Mill. Describes how the use of the cable saved ten day's from a wagon journey to haul goods around Zion's Canyon, and how the saw mill served the people of the area.
Walton LeGrande Law papers
Collection contains materials pertaining to the life of Law, including scrapbooks, newspaper articles, letters, and photographs. Contains information about his time as commander of a CCC camp in Utah, as commander of a Japanese internment camp in Topaz, Utah, and family history information. There are also three letters dated 1859 and 1863 from California and Nebraska to Utah. Dated 1859-2011.

Materials include 9 copies of photographs taken by Andrew J. Russell between approximately 1850 and 1902. The copies are from the National Archives, Library Congress, and the Union Pacific. There are photographs relating to the Civil War and the construction of the transcontinental railroad.
