Biography of Ellen Julia Barratt

Photocopy of microfilmed copy of a typewritten biography. Ellen Julia Barratt was born in 1836 in England. She joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and migrated to Utah in 1855. She settled in American Fork, married Thomas Barratt, and had twelve children. She died in 1930.

Thomas was born in England in 1830, and he married Mary Morgan Whitby in 1849. He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1850 and migrated to St. Louis, Missouri, in 1854. She describes events leading to her conversion to the Mormon Church in Iowa, and explains how principles of that church and her love of writing have fulfilled many aspects in her life.

Photocopy of a microfilmed copy of a typewritten biography. The item was "written by her daughters Stella, Annie, and Elsie," but the full names of the authors are not given. Nancy Catherine Blair was born in 1866 in St. Charles, Idaho. She moved to Mexico, Manassa, Colorado, and New Mexico. She finally settled in Pleasant Grove, Utah, in 1910. She died in 1952.

Printed item commemorating the founding of the New England Women's Club. The item was hand addressed to Mrs. Mary J. Judah and signed by the president of the club, Julia Ward Howe, in November 1892. The item includes all five verses of the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" and an account by Mrs. Howe of how she came to write the poem.
