Hyrum L. Andrus book drafts

Scope and Contents Typewritten book drafts with handwritten corrections. One of the drafts is for Andrus' book "Doctrinal Commentary on the Pearl of Great Price" which was first published in 1960. The other draft is of his book "Joseph Smith: The Man and the Seer" which was first published in 1967. Andrus comments on the Mormon scripture, the Pearl of Great Price, and writes a biography of Joseph Smith, the first president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Biography of John and Ann Stewart

Scope and Contents Typewritten biography of John Stewart, a painter, and his wife, Ann Waddle Stewart. John and Ann were Scottish converts to the Mormon Church. They migrated to Utah and later settled in Provo, Utah.

Biography : Elijah Bourne, native pioneer

Scope and Contents Photocopy of a microfilm copy of a typewritten biography. Elijah was born in 1851 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and he married mary Ann Able in 1871 and Rosa Abel in 1880. He served time in prison for polygamy and died in 1890. He lived in American Fork, Utah, his entire life.

The thesis is a biography of Sam Brannan, Mormon and California businessman.

Scope and Contents Photocopies of handwritten and typed letters, histories, interviews, diaries, pamphlets, and newspapers. The materials relate to a large range of topics in the early history of the Mormon Church; Joseph Smith, second president of the Mormon Church; and his family. Interviewees include Smith family members and those who knew them. The items were copied by Donald Q. Cannon as part of the continuing Mormon Church History Sources Project.

Biographical sketch of William Carter

Scope and Contents Typewritten biography. Also included is a typewritten poem by Johnson. William Carter was a Mormon who lived in Nauvoo, Illinois, migrated to Utah in 1847, and lived in Salt Lake City and later in St. George, Utah. He was a polygamist who spent time in the Utah penitentiary for bigamy.
